The 2008 season is now completed in the West Perth District.
Last Sunday we had 2 teams represent us in Grand Finals with the 15’s Jets Black coached by Andrew Lockyer and the 16’s Jets, coached by Dave Treacy.
The 15's black played Whitford White who had only lost twice during the home and away season. They played extremely well but unfortunately went down 9.5 59 to 11.10 76. To come from 6th place in 2007 to finish 2nd is a credit to their Coach Andrew Lockyer and the effort that all the players put in through out the season.
The 16's Jets were on top of the ladder after round 2 and despite a minor glitch midway through the season have never looked back. At the start of the 2nd quarter they had managed to silence the Whitford crowd, who had already celebrated several GF wins, leading by 6 goals. The official score was 17.4 106 to 7.4 46. What a win. The coaches and players are still celebrating. Dave Treacy in his first year as a coach at our club, teaming up with Paul Fitzsimons has taken this team to the top. Congratulations to all. The icing on this cake was when the 16's team captain, Jake Ioppollo was also named the best on ground.
We can't forget our other teams who also made the finals this season. Our 14’s Jets Black coached by Geoff Barber, 13’s Black coached by Gary Bunford and 13's Green coached by Gavin Bailey. It was a great achievement for the JKJFC to have 5 Youth teams taking part in finals football, with everyone involved representing our club extremely well.
Congratulations to all Volunteers and Players on a fantastic 2008 season.
Our club recently nominated Paul Gronow for the Volunteer of The Year Award within our District. Paul has undertaken a massive amount of work over the last few years, firstly the instrumental person behind our successful grant for the lights at Windermere, and for the last few years, working extremely long hours on the Clubroom Extensions.
Today, it was announced that Paul has been selected as the Volunteer of The Year Award in the West Perth District. Paul now gets to attend the Sandover Medal Count where the State winner will be announced.
Congratulations to Jordan Lockyer from the
15's Jets Black team who made the 2008 State School Boys
team. At the end of the carnival Jordan was also selected in the All
Australia School Boys team.
On behalf of the members of our club I would like to congratulate Jordan
on his selection and achievements.
